About Kubilaymotion
Kubilaymotion is run by Kubilay Karabıyık, a video editor and motion designer based in Istanbul, Turkey. The work is vertical short-form video: Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts, with motion graphics and sound design as supporting skills. Clients are brands, agencies, personal brands and creators, and every project runs remotely.
How I approach an edit
Before cutting anything I watch the raw footage end to end and note where attention drops. The edit plan is built on those notes rather than on a template. The strongest moment goes to the front, the flow behind it is tightened, and movement is placed where interest usually falls away.
Two things get more attention than they usually do elsewhere: sound and captions. Uneven speech levels make viewers reach for the volume, and that is the moment they leave. Captions are not decoration either — a large share of viewers start a video on mute, so the story has to be followable from the text alone.

- Adobe Premiere Pro — editing, pacing, colour
- Adobe After Effects — motion graphics, kinetic typography, cleanup
- Adobe Photoshop — cover frames and graphic assets
- Sound design and SFX layering
- AI tools, as assistants for specific tasks rather than for editing decisions
Working language and location
Based in Istanbul (UTC+3), working in Turkish and English. Briefs, revision notes and delivery all happen in writing, so collaboration across time zones is straightforward. Footage moves through cloud storage; nothing needs to be shipped or handed over in person.
Client names appear in the portfolio only where sharing has been agreed. Where it has not, the work is shown without naming the client.
