Professional Video Editing for Reels, TikTok & Shorts
Kubilaymotion is the portfolio and practice of Kubilay Karabıyık, a video editor and motion designer based in Istanbul, Turkey. I edit vertical short-form video — Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts — for brands, agencies, personal brands and creators. Every project runs remotely and in English: you send the footage, I return a finished 1080×1920 MP4.
What I do
My focus is retention, not decoration. Short-form video lives or dies on whether people keep watching, so the work is built around that: a hook that earns the first two seconds, a cut with no dead air, captions that carry the story for people watching on mute, and sound that does not make anyone reach for the volume.
- Hook and structure — the strongest moment of your footage moved to the front, with the rest of the edit built to follow it
- Pacing and rhythm — pauses, repeats and filler removed; movement placed where attention usually drops
- Animated captions — word-level emphasis, placed inside the platform safe area
- Colour and sound — shots matched to each other, speech levelled, music kept under the voice, SFX where they add weight
- Motion graphics — kinetic typography, lower thirds and logo animation in your brand’s colours and type
I do not shoot. Filming is done by you, your team or your videographer; editing, motion graphics and sound design are my side of the work. If you have no footage at all, a motion-graphics-only format can be built instead.
How it works
- Brief — where the video will be published, who it speaks to, the tone you want, and anything that must not appear. Five lines is usually enough.
- Footage — shared through Google Drive, WeTransfer or iCloud as the original files. Messaging apps compress video and that quality cannot be recovered.
- First cut — sent as a link. A single vertical video is usually ready for first review within one to two business days of complete footage arriving.
- Revisions — two full rounds are included. Notes are most useful with timecodes: “the cut at 0:04 is harsh”.
- Delivery — 1080×1920 MP4, a suggested cover frame, and a caption-free clean version on request.
Working with clients outside Turkey
All communication happens in writing — email or WhatsApp — so time zones rarely matter. Istanbul is UTC+3, which overlaps with the European working day in the morning and with the US East Coast in the afternoon. Files move through cloud storage, review links are shareable, and nothing in the process needs a call, though one can be arranged.
Pricing is project-based. What determines it is not the length of the finished video but the amount of raw footage, the scope (captions, colour, sound, motion graphics), the number of videos, the turnaround and where the video will be used. Send the outline of your project and you will get a specific quote rather than a price list.
One honest note
No editor can promise views. Reach depends on the topic, the account’s history, posting time and the platform’s own ranking — things outside an edit. What editing does affect is whether a viewer keeps watching, whether the video stands out in a feed, and whether the point lands. That is real, and it is not a guarantee.
